Crew necks T-shirts are not allowed and will be put in stowage.

All the “issued” items are not free. You will receive a $250 debit card to use at the BX store to purchase the things you will need during basic training. This $250 is docked from your first pay check. Only your uniform is free.

JoeNote

Ladies, don't bother bringing makeup. You will not be allowed to wear it until graduation day. Any makeup you need at that point can be purchased at the BX store.

JoeNote

If you are going to Navy basic training, do not bring a lot of civilian clothes with you. The Navy does not have stowage. You will either have to send your clothes home at your expense or give them away to charity.

JoeNote

Bring stamps, envelopes and stationary with you, as well as a prepaid phone card. You will want to write home and take advantage of any phone time you are given.
