Spouse Tuition Assistance Program
The Spouse Tuition Assistance Program (STAP) provides partial tuition assistance for college or high school programs to spouses of active duty airmen or officers who accompany their spouses to overseas locations. If you are a spouse of an active duty airmen or officer stationed overseas, and you will be attending high school or college programs, then you are eligible for the Spouse Tuition Assistance Program. The program provides partial tuition assistance at a rate of 50% of course tuition with a maximum of $1,500 per academic year.

Drawbacks

Only institutions offering on-base education are allowed.

Any other types of aid that you receive must be applied to tuition costs prior to determining the level of funding that you will receive from the Spouse Tuition Assistance Program.

Undergraduates must receive a C grade or higher and graduates a B grade or higher in their respective courses in order to continue to receive funding.
Apply
Individuals who wish to apply for the Spouse Tuition Assistance Program must submit a completed STAP application to the Base Education Office. This application will be considered by the Spouse Tuition Assistance committee.
If the committee accepts you, then you will need to go to your
Base Education Office and fill out an AFAS Form 90A and submit it to your counselor. Your counselor will help you with the rest of the registration process. After you successfully register for the program, VAJoe can help you find school where you can use STAP.
