Scholarships for Outstanding Airmen to ROTC

The Scholarships for Outstanding Airmen to ROTC (SOAR) program is designed to develop Air Force commanders. The scholarship allows active duty airmen to earn a commission while completing their bachelor’s degree as an Air Force ROTC cadet. It is open to to students of all majors, as well as those who have completed some or no college credit. If you are elegible, VAJoe.com can help you find schools where you can use Scholarships for Outstanding Airmen to ROTC benefits.

Each year your commander can nominate outstanding airmen for a commission. Once nominated, the nominees then go before a selection board, which will determine if the nominees will receive a scholarship. Scholarships are awarded for either two or four years based on how much time the airmen have remaining in their bachelor’s degree programs.
