Letter One
|
Dear Julie at Books for Soldiers, Sorry again for the delay in response. June was an extremely busy month, but all are safe and well! You and the others have been absolutely WONDERFUL!! I have received so many boxes it is almost impossible to recall them all at this time. I will go through the shipping list and compare it to the website. Just to let you know though the homemade soaps are a BIG HIT! He "pillowcase boxes" went over very well also. I hope some of the Marines have responded to the letters inside. All the tooth brushed and razors go as quickly as I put them out. In one day I received 16 boxes, by the time I was done opening them all their contents were distributed. That is the case most often! I CANNOT express my gratitude enough for you and the other wonderful volunteers have done for the Marines of Hotel Battery! THANK YOU!! I hope you were all able to enjoy the 4th of July. I hope your sister has been doing as well as possible and I continue to remember the both of you in my prayers. Yesterday (the 4th) I "broke out the BIG GUNS"! I figured if I was THE instigator of the water fights none of the junior Marines could get in trouble…WE HAD A BLAST (even if it was only for a while before I "asked nicely" to secure our happiness) I think it had something to do with ME starting it INSIDE and the CO walking into MY line of fire…or SOMETHING like that. I PROMISE that will not be the last time they are used. The water balloons happen all the time, but that is outside so that's not a big deal. Anyway, please feel free to post some or all of this letter of gratitude. You and the other volunteers have performed "not so small miracles" yet again!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, God Speed and Semper Fi, Gunnery Sergeant S |
