Yes: Embryonic Stem Cell Research
As a result of standard in vitro fertilization practices to help infertile women, excess human embryos are created that are eventually destroyed. Embryonic stem cells are derived from these excess embryos, and it is ethically acceptable to use stem cells from these embryos for research.

No: Embryonic Stem Cell Research
An embryo is a human being. Therefore, some argue on religious or ethical grounds that because an embryo is a human being, it is immoral to use it for medical research. Furthermore, adult stem research has been more successful than embryonic stem cell research, so embryonic stem cell research is unnecessary. It also uses techniques that are essentially cloning, which is unethical.
