Yes: Support Same-Sex Marriage
Marriage among consenting adults is a fundamental civil right, and it is unconstitutional for government to restrict this right, whether the union be a male-female, male-male or female-female marriage. Furthermore, the definition of marriage is not static. It changes among cultures and throughout time. Polygamy was once legal in the United States, and the concept of marriage being based on love and personal fulfillment with a life partner is a view only in existence since the latter 18th century in the Western world. Therefore, it is acceptable to change our culture's definition of marriage. In addition, anthropological research shows that a large variety of family types, including same-sex unions, have contributed to stable and humane societies.

No: Against Same-Sex Marriage
Marriage is not a constitutionally protected civil right, but a a natural right based on the biological need of procreation. Since same-sex couples cannot procreate, marriage is not an institution they should be offered. Some would take the argument a step further and state that permitting same-sex marriage would redefine the family, damage traditional family unions and lead to an increase in homosexual couples. Still others argue that marriage is a religious covenant, and that same-sex marriages violate biblical principles.
