TRICARE Facts
Patient Priority List
TRICARE places beneficiaries in groups that determine which beneficiaries receive care first if there is a wait for care. Here are the patient priority groups:
Group 1
- Active duty servicemembers
- Servicemembers who are not active duty, but entitled to care in a military treatment facility (MTF)

NATO and foreign military members who are entitled to care in a MTF because of an international treaty or agreement
Group 2
- Dependents of active duty servicemembers enrolled in TRICARE Prime

The dependents of NATO and foreign military members entitled to care in a MT.
Group 3

Retirees and their dependents who are enrolled in TRICARE Prime
Group 4

Dependents of active duty servicemembers who are NOT enrolled in TRICARE Prime
Group 5

Retirees and their dependents who are not enrolled in TRICARE Prime
Group 6
-
All other eligible persons
