TRICARE Extra
With TRICARE Extra, servicemembers and their dependents can receive health care and services from authorized physicians on a fee-for-service basis, like with TRICARE Standard. However, TRICARE Extra can save you money on up-front fees when you use authorized providers.

TRICARE Extra is an option for TRICARE Standard users, allowing them to save money by seeing a TRICARE network physician.

The program works on a fee-for-service basis. You will be required to pay a deductible and a percentage of your health fees.

You can use TRICARE Extra anytime, even on a case-by-case basis by making your appointments with a physician in a military treatment facility (MTF).

With TRICARE Extra, your claims will be filed for you.

There is no enrollment paperwork.

- Pay grades E-4 and below: $50 individual and $100 family fee
- Pay grades E-5 and above: $150 individual and $300 family fee
- Outpatient visits:

- Inpatient Stays
- $14.35/day
- Nursing Facility Care
- $11/day, $25 minimum
- Inpatient Stays for Behavioral Health

TRICARE Extra services are not available everywhere.

TRICARE Extra users have low-priority for inpatient care in military treatment facilities and are taken on a space-available basis.

TRICARE EXTRA is not available to active duty servicemembers, only their dependents.
Apply
It is not necessary to apply for TRICARE Extra. TRICARE Standard beneficiaries can use TRICARE Extra by making an appointment with a TRICARE Prime network provider.
