TRICARE Prime Travel Entitlement
TRICARE Prime Travel Entitlement offers stipends to TRICARE Prime and Prime Remote beneficiaries who are required to travel more than 100 miles to receive specialized medical care deemed necessary by their primary care manager (PCM).
Highlights

Beneficiaries will be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses up to the government per-diem rates. TRICARE defines reasonable travel expenses as including gas, food, parking fees, tolls and transportation tickets. Receipts must be shown for expenses more than $75.

If available, TRICARE will arrange military transportation, but beneficiaries are required to make their own lodging arrangements.

Beneficiaries are authorized to have one family member over age 21 act as a non-medical attendant (NMA). The age requirement is waived if the non-medical attendant is the parent or legal guardian of the patient. If the non-medical attendant is a civilian, all their travel expenses will be paid.

You don't need to be enrolled in TRICARE Prime in order to receive travel reimbursement as an NMA.
Drawbacks

Beneficiaries must make their own lodging arrangements.

If a non-medical attendant is an active duty servicemember or DoD personnel, only their transportation expenses will be reimbursed.
