Veterans Medical Benefits Package

The 1996 Veterans Health Care Eligibility Reform Act created an inclusive health benefits package for America's veterans. The plan focuses on primary and preventative care and is available to veterans based on their priority group ranking.
Agent Orange

The more than 200 VET Centers across the country offer counseling and other outreach services to help servicemembers and their families readjust to life after combat.
Sexual Trauma

VA health care professionals can help veterans who have experienced sexual trauma through evaluation, education and psychotherapy. Victims of sexual trauma also may be eligible for disability compensation.
Programs for Female Veterans

The VA estimated that more than 7% of veterans in 2001 were female and that by 2010 the percentage will be 14%. In order to serve this gowing population, the VA offers female veterans the same health benefits that their male counterparts are eligible for, plus additional service only for women.
Programs for Homeless Veterans

Veterans constitute 23% of the U.S. homeless population. To help them, the VA has established the nation’s largest network of programs for assisting homeless veterans and their dependents.
Long-Term Care Programs

Approximately 103 VA-operated and 2,500 community-contracted nursing homes provide care for veterans through several VA programs.
