Veteran Disability Benefits

Compensation

If you were injured or developed a disease while on active duty and weren’t dishonorably discharged, you may be eligible for disability compensation ranging from $112 to $2,393 a month.

How It Works

The amount you receive is based on your disability rating. In order to be eligible, you must be diagnosed as at least 10% disabled, and that disability must have occurred during your time of service. The higher your disability rating, the larger the benefit you may receive. The size of your benefits also based on the number of dependents you claim; more dependents, larger benefit. To figure out how much you are entitled to receive based on your disability rating and your number of dependents, check the VA Compensation Rate Chart.

Apply

Fill out VA Form 21-526 and submit it to your local VA regional office. If you have dependency records or medical evidence, attach that to the application. You can also apply online at the VONAPP Website.
